What Do You Think Is Out There?

What do you think is out there? When you look up in the stars at night, you know on one of those nights when there are no city lights, no clouds, just a million stars in the sky. What do you think is out there?

I remember laying on my back in the cool grass on a spring night...Looking up and those stars and asking that question. I was younger then, but sometimes occasionally I still look up and wonder. If you think about it, in comparison to how big the universe is supposed to be, we are just like one small grain of sand on a beach. Are we arrogant enough to think that out of all those other grains of sand on this immense beach full of sand.....We are the only grain with life?

I was brought up to believe in a higher power..Or god...I was taught that he created us and all that we know. The spiritual side of me still holds to that......It sometimes comforts me when things happen that I can not understand.

I also sometimes feel there is such a thing as Karma..That we put out good or evil into this world and those things we put out come back to us...Usually bigger than when they left us.

Is there such a thing as heaven do you think? I know that if you believe in god the way I was taught..That heaven is part of this package. What do you think it is that makes us who we are? What is this spark of electricity or energy that makes us more than a shell......That gives us the light in our eyes and the thoughts in our minds?...And when our bodies no longer can carry that light....Where does it go?

I have a friend who believes in reincarnation. I wont try and explain that one, because truthfully I'm not knowledgeable enough to speak on the subject. From what I do know, its a belief that we are brought back over and over again to complete or learn from our past mistakes from previous lives. I think its a do it till you get it right type thing..... If that's the case and this is how it works, I'm screwed. I cant seem to stop making the same mistakes over and over again. If in my next life, I'm mute... Maybe my mouth wont get me into so much trouble, possibly then I have a chance.

If we are this spark or life force..When do we become it? Is it when the sperm and the egg collide and cells start to divide? Or is it at the moment of birth....When we take our first real breath of air?

Sometimes the world seems soo big, and overwhelming. Then I look up in the sky and I think about all the people I know who are in Ireland, Georgia, Kentucky, Iraq, South Africa, New Mexico, Texas, Germany and Canada, and a few more places I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention. Who are looking up at the same sky, the same stars on the same night I am. Its then, the world doesn't seem so big anymore.

But tell me....What do you think is out there?

I was beginning of August at the Baltic Sea and on a day I haven't slept in my tent, but under free sky. I couldn't fall asleep and I also had to think about this topic.
I have thought of the same comparison like you since I lay on the beach in the sand.

When I was a little child, I had often to think of the infinity of the universe. There really must be an end of the universe but what comes after the end?
What comes after the end of my life is everything past?

If I feel bad and I cannot sleep, I look into the starry sky. I feel often very alone with my thoughts and my views. If I then see the stars, I hope there are people these also think like me and I feel no longer alone.

I don't know whether there is extraterrestrial life but it would be arrogant to claim this.

My linguistic proficiency in English is insufficient to express me sensibly. I must always write half novels to express my thoughts, please excuse this.
Jef has actually written everything important into shortened form.

I think you express yourself very eloquently. : )
I agree with you and Jef completely. I think the possibities of what could be out there are endless...

Jen,
Interesting thoughts you have. What struck me though was your photo. I think that's what you are, and that's what everyone else is--- pure energy, or consciousness.
Sometimes when i ride my bike, i have this thought. "I'm driving this vehicle but this vehicle isn't me. If i drive this for a sufficiently long time, i may begin to belive that this is me but the truth is this vehicle isn't me. I'm the one who drives this. Then could it be the same with this body of mine? This mind-- intellect?"
A proverb comes to mind---"Those who look outside dream. Those who look within awaken."
We have to look within, i believe, all the answers are there.

Thanks! :)
In the German language can the stress of a word, change the meaning totally. A positively meant sentence seems negative or a negatively meant sentence seems positive.

I am often missing the right words and then I consult the online dictionary Leo.
The words translated into English are often absolutely contrasting and I fear this then I'm misunderstood. Therefore I write very long sentences to prevent this.

Not you must thank for my comments in your Blog, I must thank you and all my other friends. Therefore I have already learned much, I hope for it, I can soon understand and write sentences better.

Adrian and Mauser*girl for example, understands me better than most Germans. We are often of the same view of many things.

Today I don't understand Adrian's sentence and I hope, this his fears aren't true.

I have always suspected you believed in "Aliens" now I know for sure. : )

Ok, if this is what we are, pure energy. Then where does that go when our bodies are no more?

Stu-man
Sounds good to me..We can figure out all the mysteries of the universe over a braai and beer.

I will help you with english if you help me learn some german. Adrian has been teaching me Afrikaans for a while now. I know a few words and phrases that I can pick out and understand. But I seem to learn it better when its a phrase I can actually use while speaking...I need the repetition to make it stick in my brain. Reading and writing the language are much easier than speaking it.

ps..Adrian has no worries.

Awwwww Thank you! I will copy paste this so I can look for the words and see if I can recognize them in the future when I see them again. Although I went to the "LEO" and looked up a few of the phrases...and it seems like there are many words in German for the same word in English. So be patient with me..I may be slow..LOL

Ill get started on organising the braais and stocking up on the beers for your imminent arrival.

LIEF VIR JOU! : )

The online dictionary Leo is great!
Many words are identical and the colloquial become daily more in Germany, not only the swearwords. "grin"

I am very patient! ;)

Adrian, I'm tranquilized again now.^^

Okay, i'll try to explain what i understand.

What happens when you switch off the light. Where does the light go? Where does the power go? It goes nowhere. So, does it mean there was no power or light before?
The energy expressed itself as light and when you switch it off, the expression stopped. That's it.

You can see something solid, like the monitor you're watching right now. You can touch it. But you can't taste it. You can listen to music, but can't see it. And
you can taste vanilla ice cream but can't hear it. What i mean to say is this-- some things are accessible to some of our senses not to others. Does that mean
that those things do not exist? Music is real only to your ears--not to your eyes. If you are unable to hear, then music doesn't exist as far as you are concerned.

The same can be said about our thoughts and emotions. These are real as far as our intellect and mind are concerned. You love someone but can you hold that love
and say--yes this is love. this is how it looks, tastes, feels, etc.? Can you touch a thought? Does that mean there are no thoughts, no such thing called love?

Emotions exist at a different level but we can feel them. Thoughts are in a different dimension but we can think and become aware of them. And those who know, those who have gone beyond these dimensions, those who have experimented with the inner
science say that consciousness is another dimension, a dimension we have lost touch with. To become aware of this and other dimensions is the next step in our evolution. That requires some daring, something more than just asking questions-- it requires moving within and exploring the vast universe within. It requires accepting that there are millions of things we aren't damn aware of and that we can know them by being open and willing to explore.

Coming back to your question, what happens to you when you die? Your body dies, it stops existing, but you continue to exist. The energy that expressed itself as Jen, that wrote blog entries
regularly, will now express itself in some other form.

I dont discount the therory that we are possibly some form of energy. That our spirit or soul or that spark of life that makes each of us unique is more than just the physical sum of our bodies. However, I dont know if I believe that when our bodies are gone that our engery just becomes something else. I think it is more complex than that. How can the thing that caused us to live, breath, think and feel be that simple?

Jen,
Once i tried to write a description of hunger and ended up writing about some sensations in the stomach and throat, nothing much. Can we describe grief, ecstasy or the affection we have for someone? Our words are limited, our intellect has its boundaries. If we have difficulty in expressing these everyday emotions accurately, then how can we rely on our limited faculties to describe the unknown?

I feel, and know to some extent, that we can only experience certain things. We need to go beyond our thoughts and know things directly. You may theorise about death or loss of love but you'll know it when you are in 'there'.

This energy which we speak of may not be an ordinary power, like electricity. It could've tremendous intelligence and discretion. If it's capable of taking a form, breathe, emote, think and live, then it should be
capable of taking another form also. The life we know is just surfacial--what lies beyond our grasp is very vast, i believe.

Vishwa said...

Forgot to add this.
That energy is YOU, jen. It's you who have taken this form and when this form is no more, YOU will take another form. You cause this form to breathe, write, read and cry.

I think we need to contemplate deeply in this direction, by changing our view point--not by looking from outside and referring to some energy within, but by looking from inside, and associating our awareness with the energy.

Why spend our lives worrying and thinking about "the next life" or "reincarnation" when we could and should just try and enjoy and make the most of THIS life?

Instead of wondering WHAT we are, we should be spending time enjoying WHO we are and celebrating the fact.

Its a pity We tend to miss so much by focusing on and worrying about things that are ultimately beyond our control or comprehension.

Just a thought.

I think I understand all your trying to say. Maybe asking the questions is looking inward?

Adrian
We ask the questions because we are curious and life is full of mystery....and because its fun to imagine and dream...
I know you know all about the imagination and dream part. : )
